RYAN WHITE HIV INITIATIVE
HIV/AIDS represents an important global health crisis,
exacerbated by socioeconomic factors, stigma and
inadequate health care access. In partnership with the
Tennessee Department of Health and Centers for Disease
Control (CDC), UWGN manages Ryan White Part B and
CDC Prevention funding for all 95 counties in Tennessee to
support those affected by HIV/AIDS by providing services
for people who do not have suf昀椀 cient health care coverage
or 昀椀 nancial resources.
Addressing health-related disparities, the program serves
more than 3,000 individuals statewide and supports
comprehensive care and prevention education, including
case management, emergency 昀椀 nancial assistance, mental
health, substance abuse, oral health care, psychosocial
support, food bank home-delivered meals, transportation,
housing assistance, eye care assistance and high-impact
prevention interventions. The Ryan White program
works to address critical social determinants of health by
supporting essential programs.
> The Ryan White program provided emergency
昀椀 nancial assistance for 90% of clients living with
HIV/AIDS.
> Supplied 95% of clients with vouchers, food bags,
home-delivered meals and hygiene kits to improve
nutritional status and enhance medication status.
> Provided transportation services via bus passes,
mileage reimbursement or Uber/Lyft for 85% of
clients to access HIV medical and other services.
> Provided 75% of clients with housing assistance in
the form of rental or hotel assistance to enhance
maintenance and adherence to HIV medical care
and services.
> 1,648 individuals with chronic disease received the
tools and resources to maintain optimum health.
> 1,312 people affected by HIV/AIDS accessed vital
support services.
