UWGN envisions a community in which
all children are equipped with the skills
and resources necessary to navigate life.
In order to help kids succeed, UWGN
supports a comprehensive education
strategy focused on:
WHOLE CHILD DEVELOPMENT
By taking a holistic approach, children bene昀椀 ting from
United Way’s initiatives in education are more likely to meet
their age-appropriate developmental milestones, improve
foundational academic skills in math and reading, and build
the character and con昀椀 dence necessary to manage sensitive
transitions, like entering kindergarten, preparing for college
or entering the workforce.
FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Primary caregivers play an integral role in ensuring that kids are
supported and successful. UWGN helps to equip and engage
families and the wider community in the learning process.
HIGH-QUALITY LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS
All kids deserve access to learning environments with
quali昀椀 ed and well-resourced educators, research-based
curriculum and instructional practices, proven assessment
and evaluation tools, and classroom cultures that promote
personal dignity and provide a sense of belonging.
