MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS
THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM
Local organizations do incredible work to support our neighbors and communities.
Food pantries and diaper banks make sure basic needs are met. Clinics provide health
care and mental health services. After-school and mentoring programs help our kids
learn and grow. Parks and conservation organizations care for green spaces that we
can all enjoy. But they cannot do this work alone.
Whether an organization has a single staff member or a
full team, extra hands can help them raise funds, serve the
community and achieve their mission. Volunteers can work
one on one with students and clients to set the foundation
for success, taking over repetitive, time-consuming tasks
that make a major impact. And if a crisis hits, volunteers can
quickly help an organization increase its services. Hands On
powered by UWGN is uniquely positioned to connect our
community through volunteerism.
In 2025, families were faced with higher grocery prices and
uncertain SNAP bene昀椀 ts, and local nonpro昀椀 ts were suddenly
seeing new clients and a record need for food. Hands On
volunteers stepped up to stock food banks, deliver meals and
staff grocery giveaways.

“Y’all have been promoting our food
distribution opportunities, and we’ve
seen a huge uptick in volunteers. We
have seen increased community members
at our sites, but because we have so
many volunteers, our sites are actually
running even smoother than normal!”
