MEETING OUR NEIGHBORS’ BASIC NEEDS
When individuals and families are faced with an emergency or a critically important
basic need, they may not know where to turn or whom to trust. Across our footprint,
United Way of Greater Nashville (UWGN) aims to connect individuals to resources and
support services by coordinating a clear point of entry that provides seamless access
to available wraparound services. These services are foundational to who we are as an
organization and how we support the most vulnerable members of our community.
211 STATEWIDE COLLABORATIVE:
UNITING TENNESSEE THROUGH PARTNERSHIP
This year marked an exciting new chapter for
the 211 programs in Tennessee. For the 昀椀 rst
time, all six 211 contact centers across the
state came together to form the Tennessee
211 Collaborative, a partnership built on
shared vision, innovation and teamwork.
To guide this statewide effort, the 211
Collaborative established a governing board
representing all 211 programs. Director of the
Nashville 211 program LaKelia Lovan was
named vice chair for the collective, leading
this collective vision forward.
Through this collaboration, we could enhance
the technology to make our database more
interactive and searchable via a new platform
called VisionLink. This integration allows our
teams to share information, track statewide

needs and, most importantly, ensure that
Tennesseans can access help more ef昀椀 ciently
than ever before.
One of the most powerful outcomes of this
collaboration is the ability to roll calls between
contact centers in times of disaster or high
call volume. No matter where someone lives
in Tennessee, they can count on 211 to answer
the call, especially when it matters most.
By creating greater ef昀椀 ciency, consistency
and connectivity across the state,
the Tennessee 211 Collaborative has
strengthened our ability to respond, to serve
and to secure funding that sustains our
mission. Six independent systems united,
designed to better serve every Tennessean
who needs hope, help and a way forward.
