Geography
The sampled area reflects the same area examined in Phase 1 of the Davidson County Child
Care Landscape Study.9 The sampled area comprises 34 Zip Code Tabulation Areas
(ZCTAs) that contain land within Davidson County. ZCTAs are areal geographic units that
are roughly equivalent to postal ZIP code regions.10 Because ZCTAs do not precisely align
with the Davidson County line, some of the sampled area extends slightly beyond the
