HANDS ON NASHVILLE
In 2023, Hands On Nashville volunteers made an extraordinary impact in the community, with over
22,000 individuals contributing their time and energy across programs such as GeekCause, Corporate
Volunteer Engagement and Disaster Programs. Together they logged an impressive 66,000 hours
of service, from tutoring children and mentoring youth to stocking food pantries and assisting
cancer patients.
Hands On’s initiatives saw signi昀椀 cant growth and development in 2023, including expanded learning
opportunities, a refocused AmeriCorps program, and successful events like the Mary Catherine
Strobel Awards and Nashville Volunteer Week.
Volunteers’ dedication shone brightly during a
challenging time, as over 1,000 individuals rallied to
aid Madison residents affected by tornadoes, collectively
serving over 3,000 hours in December alone.
Hands On Nashville’s merger with United Way of
Greater Nashville further bolstered its capacity to
coordinate critical services and promote volunteer
engagement. Additionally, Hands On extended
its assistance to neighboring counties with
less-developed disaster relief infrastructure,
exemplifying its commitment to serving local
communities beyond Nashville.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Hands On Nashville collaborated with over 160
community partners, ranging from small nonpro昀椀 ts
like The Branch to bulwarks such as Second Harvest
Food Bank. With nearly 8,000 volunteers signing up
and 昀椀 lling over 18,000 service shifts, totaling 56,000
hours, Hands On saw a 12% increase in volunteer
engagement. Hands On also convened more than
130 volunteer managers for monthly Community
Partner Conversations to share insights and enhance
community collaboration.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Hands On Nashville’s commitment to volunteerism
was reinforced with the addition of a full-time
volunteer engagement coordinator. The team
integrated the Recite Me toolbar into its website
for enhanced accessibility and translations to over
140 languages. Nashville Volunteer Week kicked off
at Shelby Park with a volunteer fair connecting 30
organizations with over 300 potential volunteers and
ended with more than 600 new volunteer signups.
CORPORATE VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT
Hands On Nashville fostered connections between
corporate volunteers and community partners. Over
two dozen businesses mobilized 2,400 volunteers,
dedicating 5,000 hours to service across 51 projects
bene昀椀 ting schools and nonpro昀椀 ts. Corporate partners
invested over $60,000 in essential supplies. Volunteers
tackled diverse tasks, from environmental preservation
to supporting foster youth and making locals schools
welcoming places for students to learn.
