MEETING OUR NEIGHBORS’
BASIC NEEDS
When individuals and families are faced with an emergency or a critically important basic need, they
may not know where to turn to or whom to trust. Across our footprint, United Way of Greater Nashville
(UWGN) aims to connect individuals to resources and support services by coordinating a clear point of
entry that provides seamless access to available wrap-around services. These services are foundational
to who we are as an organization and how we support the most vulnerable members of our community.
DIRECT SERVICES
UWGN provides emergency 昀椀 nancial assistance,
emergency shelter, food assistance, health crisis
intervention, hygiene kits and household items for
Tennesseans in need across our nine-county region.
We’re actively working to move families out of
homelessness, make sure no one goes hungry and
deliver aid in times of crisis.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Developing networks that unite communities of
practice, UWGN supports service providers in
collectively organizing and focusing their efforts
to build shared capacity, improve the quality and
access to impactful resources and data, and increase
the collective 昀椀 nancial capital of United Way and
our partners. As the organization that brings these
communities to the same table, UWGN also provides
10
the support and tools to amplify results by helping
our partners tell their story, showcase their impact
in the community and increase awareness of their
mission. Ultimately, we can address systems change
only through a comprehensive effort from partners
and providers, united by a shared goal of helping our
neighbors when they need it most.
CATALYST FOR SYSTEMS CHANGE
UWGN takes a collective approach to building
comprehensive and reliable local systems that
provide the community with clear points of entry
to access the basic needs and wrap-around
services needed for children, individuals and
families to thrive. It’s our aim to address gaps in
service by bringing together a support network for
Tennesseans in crisis – a looming threat for too many
in our community.
